Alpheus Communications Upgrades Network with 100G DWDM System to Meet Bandwidth Demand from Carrier and Enterprise Customers

Investment adds significant capacity while keeping high-quality network services affordable

HOUSTON – Dec. 6, 2016 Alpheus Communications has significantly upgraded its core fiber network capability by deploying a new Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) system, boosting capacity from 10 Gbps to 100 Gbps per channel. Carriers and enterprise businesses need more bandwidth than ever, driven by the continual increases in mobile and cloud-driven applications.

This latest investment enables Alpheus to continue offering cost-effective bandwidth to Texas businesses in major metropolitan markets, including Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston. The DWDM upgrade to 100 Gbps per channel also represents a strategic benefit for Alpheus carrier customers, from aggregating high-bandwidth network traffic for optimized performance to connecting their clients in Texas and delivering cross-border traffic to Mexico.

“Current technology trends have generated exponential growth of network traffic, and large enterprises are seeking ways to increase capacity without breaking their budgets. This need is even more intense for carriers, who must meet the ever-growing demand of their business and consumer customers, whether in the U.S. or internationally, including Mexico,” said Francisco Maella, Chief Operating Officer, Alpheus Communications. “Alpheus is committed to leveraging our expertise to expand our resilient core fiber network, and this latest investment demonstrates our commitment to meeting our customers’ needs.”

The core network overbuild lets Alpheus provide much higher yet affordable bandwidth options. By partnering with Alpheus, carriers and large businesses can easily implement their network strategy without spending the capital required to build, light and manage their own fiber networks. Alpheus also offers managed network services, giving businesses the freedom to run multiple applications required for their mission-critical operations while Alpheus manages the network and scales the bandwidth to what is needed.
