Director Carrier Sales

General Summary

Works under the general supervision of the VP Carrier Sales, selling Alpheus products and services which include, but are not limited to, Ethernet Transport, Managed Waves, Dedicated Internet Access, SONET, and Data Center Colocation. This business segment is primarily focused on the company’s growth of new and existing wholesale carrier customer accounts. The Director of Carrier Sales focus is on prospecting for new accounts, and supporting existing carrier accounts.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop relationships with and maintain communications with new and existing carrier customers through various mediums
  • Strategic account growth
  • Accurate forecasting through detailed account planning
  • Customer relationship management of existing accounts and prospecting for new carrier customers
  • Identify and qualify sales leads. Maintain a strong prospect pipeline to ensure quota and revenue goal attainment
  • Provide professional and technical advice on business applications to ensure account satisfaction by fulfilling customer needs
  • Respond to customer inquiries to retain and grow existing revenues while securing new accounts
  • Respond to Request for Proposals (RFPs)

Product Responsibility

  • Represent Alpheus’ entire product portfolio
  • Maintain a solid understanding of all of the major product groups and applications associated with these product groups
  • Coordinate with engineering and sales support to complete product configuration and ensure successful installations

Sales Process Responsibility

  • Create proposals and/or presentations
  • Input current account information as well as prospective account status into
  • Give on-site presentations to existing and prospective clients while utilizing sales techniques in order to close sales
  • Focus on new and existing streams of revenue through aggressive networking and prospecting
  • Attend trade shows and conferences to foster relationships with carrier customers

Job Specifications

  • Strong written, communication and presentation skills are required to compose and present proposals, send routine letters, and present proposals and maintain influential relationships at all levels within the customer’s organization
  • Thorough knowledge of telecommunication products and services is required as well as innovative problem solving skills to influence the sale and diffuse potential customer problems

Minimum Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent and 8+ years professional experience working in the wholesale telecommunications industry

Special Administrative Knowledge

Position requires ability to use MS-excel, word & power point. Individual must be disciplined, and well organized. They must also be articulate when communicating both internally and externally on behalf of the company.

  • Must be able to manage multiple projects at a time
  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Must be able to self prioritize assignments and tasks
  • Must be able to work alone with very little supervision
  • Keep management up to date on all on-going projects, with regard to project status, completion time and cost projections, and any problems that may arise
  • Maintain a clean, functional, and safe work area at all times
  • After hours, weekend and holiday availability may be required
  • Some travel is required to meet with carrier customers and attend trade shows
